The Celts lived in Europe more than 2000 years ago. On November 1st they celebrated the end of summer. They thought ghosts visited the living on October 31st. They dressed up like ghosts so the spirits would not harm them. Halloween is an old tradition in Ireland and Scotland. In those countries, people dressed up and carried lanterns made of turnips. When people moved from Ireland and Scotland to the United States, they started using pumpkins. This is where the jack-o\u2019-lantern comes from. They also had a tradition of giving food to the spirits. Later, they gave the food to poor people. This is where trick-or-treating comes from. Halloween has changed a lot since its origins.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00bfCu\u00e1l es el origen de esta fiesta?<\/h3>\n<p>La fiesta tiene su origen en la cultura Celta. Los celtas vivieron en Europa hace m\u00e1s de 2000 a\u00f1os. El 1 de noviembre celebraban el final del verano. Cre\u00edan que la noche del 31 de octubre los fantasmas visitaban a los vivos. Para ahuyentarlos se disfrazaban de esp\u00edritus o\u00a0 fantasmas. La fiesta de Halloween es una antigua tradici\u00f3n irlandesa y escocesa. En estos pa\u00edses, la gente se disfrazaba y portaban linternas hechas con nabos que cultivaban. Cuando la tradici\u00f3n lleg\u00f3 a Estados Unidos, en vez de nabos utilizaban calabazas. Este es el origen de Jack-o\u2019-lantern. Tradicionalmente se entregaba comida a los esp\u00edritus y m\u00e1s tarde a la gente pobre, de ah\u00ed viene la tradici\u00f3n de truco o trato.<\/p>\n<p>En nuestro centro el profesorado organiza juegos relacionados con esta actividad cultural y disfrutamos \u00a0todos y todas de una tarde especial.
